Set Sail with Gray Tide – Painting & Miniature Marketplace
Have an army hidden in a closet that needs to go to a new home? Maybe a model that needs an expert’s brush? Gray Tide can help!
Criz Jamers (former General Manager of Games Workshop Germany), and entrepreneur Colin McKinna are officially launching Gray Tide, a Commission Painting platform and Miniature Marketplace.
After stretching himself thin for years trying to get traction with his commission work by promoting on social media (without a big studio budget), Alex had a large client back out of a deal. He was feeling completely defeated and exhausted when his friend Colin suggested: “Could you build an online network that solves the problems you’re facing for others?”
According to Alex:
“That’s when I really started to envision a website specifically for hobbyists. Where they could go to find painters and trade minis safely and easily. Where their funds would be protected during the entire process.”
How Does Gray Tide Work?
After nearly a year and a half in development, multiple challenges, and a whole lot of testing, Gray Tide is ready to gather a diverse community of hobbyists and empower them with the tools they need to do what they love.
Looking to be more than just another painter directory, the platform is focused on ease of use. Gray Tide provides a single place to buy and sell minis and hire commission painters. It has an intuitive and simple-to-use interface that makes it easy to be a buyer or seller.

“When I heard about the Gray Tide project, I thought it was a fantastic idea,” says Criz Jamers, “there’s really no good reason for it to be so expensive and difficult for people to build an awesome army and get it painted.”
Gray Tide brings a breath of fresh air to some of the most frustrating aspects of the hobby today.
