The Inquisitors were an elite squad of fallen Jedi tasked to hunt down survivors of Order 66. And they keep turning up to ruin Jedis’ days.

The Inquisitors have been around for a while now, starting out in recent Star Wars lore as the elite squad of Sith Agents (though not necessarily Sith themselves) whose job it was to hunt down and kill survivors of Order 66. Since the Jedi were good, the Inquisitors had to be better, so they became some of the most fearsome and terrifying warriors in the galaxy. Knowing an Inquisitor was on your tail was all but a death sentence. Suffice to say, they’re pretty darn good villains.

So it’s no surprise that Star Wars has been incorporating their slowly dwindling ranks in the stories that take place after the fall of the Jedi Order. Obi-Wan Kenobi featured the Grand Inquisitor (played by Rupert Friend), Fifth Brotherr (Sung Kang), and newly introduced Third Sister (Moses Ingram). But they are also part of the brand new book by Delilah S. Dawson, Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, and supposedly we will meet yet another next month in Ahsoka with Shin Hati. With all of this, you may want to brush up on your Inquisitor knowledge. And these five are a great place to start.

Thirteenth Sister

Coming straight from the brand new book I mentioned above, I want to into too many Thirteenth Sister details. Spoilers and all that. But also known as Iskat Akaris, this Inquisitor has been around since 2017’s Darth Vader comic #19. Here she often worked alongside Vader and Fifth Brother. That is, until Vader decided she wasn’t useful to him anymore.

Seventh Sister

Star Wars inquisitors

The Seventh Sister is a major antagonist in Star Wars: Rebels. Throughout her time on the show she faced Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, and came dangerously close to defeating Order-66-Surviver Kanan Jarrus and his trainee, Ezra Bridger. Some of whom we look forward to seeing in Ahsoka next month. Most often seen working alongside the Fifth Brother. She is creative and thoughtful in her attacks and her strategic use of ID9 Parrot Droids makes her stand out.

Second Sister

Star Wars inquisitors

If you played Jedi: Fallen Order, you’ll recognize this the Second Sister. Her stories is one that reminds us that in many ways, the Inquisitors are tragic characters. Previously Padawan Trilla Suduri, the Second Sister originally escaped Order 66 only to be later captured and tortured by the Empire. Her fall to the dark side was hard and resulted in one of the most cruel and powerful inquisitors on the team. Second Sister may be second only to the Grand Inquisitor.

Fifth Brother

Star Wars inquisitors

Fifth Brother is one of the more prominent Inquisitors, showing up in Rebels, comics, and in live-action in Kenobi. He is all brute strength and no pageantry, acting often as the muscle. But he often works closely with the Seventh Sister, who’s his opposite in most ways, their strengths work complementary to one another. But on his own, he’s still a sentient tank with a lightsaber. So, y’know. No joke.

Grand Inquisitor

Star Wars inquisitors

Easily the most well-known inquisitor and one of the main villains in both Rebels and Kenobi, the Grand Inquisitor is someone nobody wants to mess with. He’s the leader of the Inquisitors and the one most will recognize from Star Wars: Rebels where he tirelessly pursues Kanan and Ezra. With a strong connection to the force, the Grand Inquisitor is a naturally menacing and fear-inducing character. I doubt we’ll see too much more of this character post-Rebels. But as one of the most powerful and influential of the Inquisitors, it’s always good to brush up on your Grand Inquisitor knowledge.

Which Inquisitor is your favorite? Which is your least favorite? Have you read the new Inquisitor book? Do you think the brand new character Shin Hati will be an Inquisitor after all? Let us know in the comments!
