We got the new Avatar and the Shining Spears built and are taking a closer look at those on our next mini spotlight.

The new Avatar is a killer model and the Shining Spears are an improvement over their previous incarnation. How so? Take a look for yourself:

Shining Spear Updates

The new Shining Spears weren’t my personal favorite choice for Aeldari units that should have gotten a model update first. But to GW’s credit the new models are much better. They are now in the newer, sleeker Jetbikes of the Craftworld Aeldari. They are no longer quite so “stiff” as the previous poses either. Their lances are better looking and they even have a lance holder on their bikes, too. All these changes certainly makes this unit seem a lot more aggressive.

There are quite a few options with the kit as well. If you want to go helmetless or not with your Shining Spears you can now do that. There’s also a few other weapon options to choose from with the assembly.

Even though I personally wasn’t looking forward to this unit’s release I can still appreciate a good glow-up when I see one. This is a better kit that the previous one. Plus they are all plastic! That’s another big improvement over the previous kit, too.

The Avatar of Khaine

I don’t think we really need to go into too much more detail on this one. We’ve previously speculated about the size of the model and the looked at the details before. It’s just a great kit and we now can confirm the size:

It’s 130mm tall and on an 80mm base. So yeah, it’s about three times as tall as a Space Marine. Assembly-wise, you get a ton of options relative to how you can build the Avatar. Various heads, plumes, and weapons are at your disposal.

There are going to be some leftover bits post-assembly and I’m sure hobbyist will get creative with those. Again, this is a fantastic update for the model and the fact that it’s plastic is even better.

What do you think of the new Avatar and Shining Spears?
