Warhammer 40K: Tyranid Little Bugs Are Getting Some Big Buffs
The Tyranids Little Bugs are getting buffs in the next codex. Come see how the swarm is about to overrun everything!
A swarm of Tyranid little bugs is always a sight to behold on the tabletop. A carpet of moving gaunts moving like a tidal wave of biomass can be a daunting sight. How can you kill enough of them to stop the wave? Can you do it before it comes crashing down? That’s the question! And in the new Tyranid Codex stopping that wave is going to be even tougher thanks to some new improvements to the little bugs.
“Hormagaunts, Termagants, and Gargoyles are rapacious locusts that swarm at the Hive Mind’s command – if locusts were about the size of a tiger and armed with organic bio-weaponry. This seething tide of mandibles, talons, guns, tails, and other errant limbs only grows in power when directed by cunning SYNAPSE creatures, forming a carpet of doom that covers the battlefield. “
The Creeping Carpet of Doom
One of the problems that big swarms of little bugs have always had is getting to close combat. But once you make it there, it’s actually hard to bring the weight of your numbers down on the enemy. That won’t be so much of a problem anymore. Thanks to the new Swarming Masses ability:
Units with this ability can have models attack all the way out from 2 1/2″ away! That’s a BIG boost to the little guys. Get ready for an entire swarm of gnashing teeth and sharp claws to come crashing in. And the hits just keep coming. Check out the new and improved profile for the Hormagaunt:
A 10″ move? An extra attack?! A 5+ save! I mean, it’s still basically a T-shirt…but it’s better than before. Oh and they still have their bounding leap which allows them to pile in an extra 3″ each time they fight. So yeah…that extended threat range is a real thing.
That’s just a few of the little bug buffs, too. Don’t forget they are also Core which means they are going to get even more buffs from the creatures like the Hive Tyrant or Broodlord. And with the new Synaptic Imperative rules you can really juice them up even more!
The Tyranid Swarms are going to be a thing. You better start practicing moving 100+ models a turn Tyranid Players…
