Warhammer: Organised Play Returns
Games Workshop has announced the return of Organised Play packs for Warhammer Shops and Independent Gaming Stores.
In the past GW has dabbled with Organised Play for stores. But ,for various reasons, GW put the OP kits on hiatus for a while. Fast-forward to now and GW has some plans to bring it back and to expand Organised Play even more.
“Up until recently, hobby stores across the world had always hosted prize-packed Warhammer events thanks to some brilliant Organised Play kits. But you can’t keep a great idea down for long, so Organised Play will be returning to Warhammer shops and independent gaming stores near you very soon. If you love playing Warhammer with your mates and earning awesome swag while you’re at it, the future is bright!”
The Organised Play will be expanded beyond Warhammer 40,000. Warhammer: Age of Sigmar will also be on the docket for OP for the first time. We’re also going to see the return of the 40k packs for the first time “in over a decade.” And if you’re more into the skirmish side of things then you’ll be excited to know that Kill Team, Warcry, and Underworlds are all going to be a part of the OP seasons.
“All in all, there will be around ten Organised Play packs coming every year from 2023, stuffed with trophies and certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as Best Painted. They’ll also contain goodies for every player who participates, so you’ll take something home no matter how well your lore-accurate army performs in practice.”
There will also be a wide array of prizes to go along with the kits. GW has announced exclusive digital content for those participating in the OP events on top of everything else. There’s also the chance at scoring a Golden Ticket to the Warhammer US Open 2022 Finale as well!
“This is an exclusive VIP pass to the culmination of the competitive gaming year, covering travel and accommodation, where you’ll battle it out with the best Warhammer players in the world at an incredible double-header – the Grand Tournament final and a Grand Narrative event.”
Personally, I’m looking forward to more support for stores in general. It’s a great opportunity to do some local community building and a bit of healthy competition on the side is a good thing. Once we get more info on what exactly is in these kits we’ll be sure to pass that along. A few of the BoLS writers might even head to some local events to see if we can snag one of those trophies for ourselves…
