Age of Sigmar: Daughters of Khaine Blood Rites Get Reworked
The Daughters of Khaine are losing re-rolls on their Blood Rites but they are gaining some other bonuses in return.
If you’re not familiar with the evil Daughters of Khaine they currently have an allegiance ability called Blood Rites. This ability adds various bonuses over the course of the game with each round netting them a new, cumulative bonus. For the most part, these bonuses provided a re-roll to their respective rolls. But that is all changing with their upcoming battletome.

Daughters of Khaine Blood Rites Rework
During the first round the Daughters get an army-wide +1 to run rolls. Following that up on the second battle round they get an army wide +1 to charge rolls. Combined this makes them move faster than your opponent might expect.
Rounds 3 and 4 are when they really start to get nasty with a +1 to hit followed up by a +1 to wound — both for melee attacks. Games Workshop did change the way to hit and to wound rolls work by capping the max bonus at +1. This is probably why GW introduced the High Gladiatrix with her ability to change the to wound roll of friendlies to a +3. That allows her ability to stack with this new bonus.
Round 5 capps the Blood Rites off with an army wide 5+ ward. This is a boost to the 6+ ward and ideally this should help your units stay alive at the end of the game.
So what’s the overall impact going to be? Well, GW is trying to position this as a “simpler and more powerful” version of the Blood Rites. The flat bonus is simpler but I don’t know if it’s more powerful than the re-roll version. I’m not sure I buy that entirely because I don’t think the math* works out in the Daughters favor.
That said, if nothing else this should speed the games up a bit. Buckets and buckets of dice re-rolls does slow things down as players have to count up all their hits/wounds, pull their misses and then re-roll them. Over the course of a game that can add up quite a bit.
The Daughters of Khaine are getting their new battletome in the next wave from Games Workshop and we’re looking forward to seeing what other changes they have in store.
*This changes quite a bit when you’re comparing re-roll 1s vs re-roll [all] and if you’re considering other buffs like witchbrew or the orders like All Out Attack and more. So maybe simple is just better, too.
