‘D&D Direct’ This Thursday Unfurls The Future Of 5th Edition
Thursday, April 21st marks the start of D&D Direct. At the heart of it, the future of 5th Edition. Here’s what you can expect.
WotC announced the first-ever D&D Direct this past weekend. They claim that this event will be “your first peek at the future of Dungeons & Dragons.” If the Nintendo Direct is anything to go by, they’ll announce an HD remake of Caverns of Thracia and the US premiere of Up the Garden Path.
Extremely good jokes aside, this Thursday should open the door into the future of D&D. And there’s a lot to be excited about too, what with a “new evolution” of the core rules headed out in 2024. The D&D Direct promises to be a show, for certain.
D&D Direct Coming April 21
See exclusive reveals across the world’s greatest roleplaying game, books, video games, entertainment, and more! This is one jam-packed show. Don’t miss all-new D&D announcements, starting April 21 at 9 AM PT (5 PM BST). You might even find a few a surprises.
And there are more than a few hints at what we can expect to see in the trailer above. First things first, it looks like we get a glimpse of a digital copy of the physical rulebook. It might just be wishful thinking, but that Ancient Red Dragon looks pound for pound like the same page in the Monster Manual. Which would be huge for 5E. But since WotC just acquired D&D Beyond, the times they are a-changing.
There’s also a shot of a “script” for the D&D movie by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, so you can expect some D&D movie news.
And we’ll probably see some toy news as well. But look at this image right here:
A video game controller next to a miniature giant space hamster stuffed animal holding a d10. What in the world could they be trying to tell us?
Well. Regardless, we’ll be keeping you up to date on the announcements, so be sure and tune in.
Happy Adventuring!
