D&D Movie Has A Title And Release Date Now – Honor Among Thieves
The D&D Movie is officially called Honor Among Thieves and it’s coming March 33rd, 2023.
At D&D Direct WotC and eOne unveiled a sliiiightly closer look at the movie previously known as Dungeons & Dragons (2023). And by slightly, we do mean slightly. But we know more than a little about the Dungeons and Dragons movie right now.
First up, we got a look at the movie’s new title: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and its accompanying release date, March 3rd, 2023. But John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein also made an appearance during the video presentation to give a few more details about the movie.
D&D At The Movies
One of the biggest reveals they dropped is specifically that the movie is set in the Sword Coast. Or as it’s more commonly known, the Remembered Realms
“It’s a dream come true to bring the Forgotten Realms and the Sword Coast to life.”
And that shooting is finished on the movie. All that’s left is editing everything and finishing up whatever CGI process is necessary to remove the digital ghost of Jeremy Irons.
It has been a long time coming. Honor Among Thieves was initially slated for a 2021 release. But the movie has been trying to exist, in some form or another since 2013, when WotC was plagued by rights arguments that didn’t seem to resolve until 2017, when they first announced the movie was in development.
So from a certain point of a view, the movie has been ten years in the make. But, in that time, it’s had a change of directors, a rewritten script, and managed to secure a solid cast.
The movie, which Chris Pine says is a little bit Monty Python, a little bit Princess Bride, might just manage to be a hit. The stars have aligned. Especially with Hasbro wanting to push Dungeons & Dragons into a “cinematic universe” that includes TV shows and more.
