D&D’s Summer Release Spotted – Alongside More Spelljammer Teases
A new D&D ‘placeholder page’ for D&D’s Summer Release appeared on Amazon. Alongside that, more Spelljammer teases from WotC.
D&D Direct might be this Thursday. But before the show has even started, we know when the newest book will be coming out. Wizards of the Coast and Amazon might have learned how to keep their secrets, but the internet will have its due. Once again, a new mystery book has been spotted on Amazon. Titled “Dungeons & Dragons Summer Release” the book teases very little information, other than its release date and the odd dimension or two.
Let’s take a look.
D&D Summer Release – Aug. 16, 2022
“Keep an eye on your favorite D&D news sources for your first peek inside this upcoming Dungeons & Dragons release!”
With a new placeholder page in place, there’s absolutely no way WotC doesn’t talk about this on Thursday at the D&D Direct. We know the release date, but we also get a look at some of the dimensions of the book. And they’re not the most helpful:
- Publisher : Wizards of the Coast (August 16, 2022)
- Language : English
- ISBN-10 : 0786968168
- ISBN-13 : 978-0786968169
- Item Weight : 5 ounces
- Dimensions : 2.01 x 8.62 x 11.61 inches
It’s hard to believe a book would only weigh five ounces. But hey, stranger things have happened. The dimensions of the book’s thickness are interesting – if accurate, the 2 inch thickness might suggest some kind of slip case cover. We’ll have to wait and see. For now, this is all we know:
That and Spelljammer Teases
Okay but there’s a lot of Spelljammer teases out there right now. WotC has been rolling them out steadily since April 1st when they announced Spelljammer Confirmed. What at first seemed like a cruel April Fool’s joke announcement might turn out to be a cool April Fool’s prank announcement. From a stuffed hamster appearing in the teaser video for D&D Direct to some cheeky tweets, the fix seems to be coming in.
Especially with the latest tease, spotted on Twitter over the weekend:
What’s this? What’s this? A strange unmarked package at my door? I hope it gets “Directly” to the point! #dnd pic.twitter.com/1e2V8HDfTy

There’s a vinyl Giff figurine as well as a shirt featuring Boo along with the words “Go for the eyes, Boo!”
But there’s every chance this turns out to be the stealth announcement for a new buddy comedy video game where you play Boo and a Giff on a quest to find the Eye of Vecna as its lost in the multiverse.
Either way, that Giff alone is worth any trolling WotC cares to pull
