Someone’s got some armored booties in the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. It’s shoes!

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for another Rumor Engine. Today, I’m starting to wonder if Tarantino directed this shot. Why? If you have to ask there’s no point in explaining. Anyhow, let’s just forget about that tangent and get to the picture.

“Sometimes we sit and ponder what the Rumour Engine was originally designed for. It arrived suddenly one day in the Warhammer Community bunker, and we can only theorise what use a machine from the far-flung future that shows nothing but small pictures of Warhammer really has.”

Shoes. Well, technically, those are sabatons. We’re also getting a look at the greaves as well. But really those are just armored shoes. In any case I think the more interesting part of the image is the statue this person is standing on. That looks similar to many of the ones we’ve seen already.

Based on the design of the boots and the statue, I’m guessing this is probably something from the Mortal Realms of Age of Sigmar. The question is which faction could these boots be from.

Stormcast Eternals are a good option. These Sabatons are more narrow than the older Stormcasts, but the newer, lighter-armored looking Vanquishers could fit. The only catch is that Stormcast have studs in their armor at the ankle. This Rumor Engine doesn’t. Then again, maybe it’s a new type of armor for the SCE. Clearly the armor is from some other armoured-up soldier type. There are lots of options to choose from.

But what about the statue?

The features remind me of the Isharann Tidecaster. Or rather, the statue that she’s stepping on. That said, it doesn’t confirm this model is an Idoneth Deepkin miniature. Let’s not forget that Warhammer: Underworlds Harrowdeep is a setting under the sea and those warbands have some very fancy and specific bases. Here’s an example of one warband with fancy basing:

This also wouldn’t be the first model GW has made where they are really high-up on a chunk of a statue. This seems like a thing that the Lumineth Realm-lords would do as well:

But here’s where we turn it over to you, oh Internet Detectives. If you’ve got any theories we’d love to see them in the comments. So drop us a line and share your thoughts with the class. What do you think this one could be…besides shoes.

…And we haven’t even gone into the other Grand Alliance options yet.
