And Joe Manganiello’s new Kickstarter, ARcana looks to bring AR to your tabletop games in a big way.

It gives you the full 3d terrain tabletop experience but virtually, on your device. Now, you might be wondering, why use this instead of one of the many virtual tabletops out there? Because this lets you play in person just as easily. Your mileage may vary, but the Kickstarter looks really cool.

ARcana is bringing the table back to tabletop gaming for an authentic experience using the magic of AR! Built for mobile on iOS and Android phone and tablets, ARcana doesn’t require any new hardware.
ARcana’s networked platform allows you to connect with your friends around the table or around the world with everyone seeing the table from their own vantage point. Build as big as your dreams! Once you own a tile you can use it indefinitely. Make builds bigger than ever before, and carry them around in your pocket.
ARcana is a standalone software app for iOS and Android devices that utilizes the augmented reality camera in your devices to create a 3D landscape to build and play with. ARcana will be distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. We plan to release ARcana near the end of 2022. But the exact timeline depends on how much money is pledged in this campaign.
