Necromunda: Ash Wastes is going full on Mad Max with this new Cargo-8 Ridgehauler. Get ready for to protect your convoy!

Ever since the reveal of the animated trailer for Ash Wastes, I’ve been pretty excited to get into the down and dirty of life outside the Hive. The trailer had quite a bit to show off with hints of things to come:

Today, we get a new confirmation from that trailer. Say hello to the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler!

via Warhammer Community

“Yes, that is a Munitorum Armoured Container in the back. And yes, there are rules for upgrades, armaments, and various common cargos. In fact, this is just the cab – Ridgehaulers are highly customisable, and can be fitted out with up to four trailers bristling with heavy weaponry, extra armour, and other defensive boondoggles to your gang’s own specifications (and the depth of its pockets). You can build your own custom train!”

That’s right, there’s more to this convoy than just the awesome cab. You’ll be able to add more trailers to haul even MORE cargo!

I’m not going to lie — this has me excited. Just from a modeling perspective the options look like lots of fun. I can’t wait to see the scenarios for this thing or even create a few custom ones.

So how will they work in the game? The first thing to know is they are operated by the Guild of Coin. Those masked gunners and drivers are Guild Members and they must be hired as Specialist. The good news is that any gang can hire them (except the new Nomads for obvious reasons) — this should lead to to some more fun conversion options. As the campaign proceeds you can also upgrade your rig even further with things like “nitro burners, all-wheel steering, crash cages, and lots and lots of guns.

These Ridgehaulers are also tough. We’re talkin Toughness 8 or 9 all around. So if you’re planning on taking one on, you’re probably going to want to pack some serious firepower. I’m betting these convoys are going to be quite the pretty penny to hire and run. But I’m also betting the rewards are going to be equally enticing!
