Star Wars: ‘The Mandalorian’s Third Season Completes Filming
The Mandalorian‘s third season has finished filming; here’s what we know about the season so far and what we’re looking forward to.
The third season of The Mandalorian has officially wrapped filming, and now we just have to wait to see what season three has in store for us.
Both Carl Weathers and the show’s star, Pedro Pascal, confirmed on March 29rd via Twitter that filming had concluded. Weathers called it a “season of WONDERFULLNESS,” and we hope that means that we have some wonderful stuff to look forward to.

In addition to Pedro Pascal, and Carl Weathers, we know that Giancarlo Esposito will be back as Moff Gideon. But Misty Rosas has also confirmed in a now deleted tweet that she’ll be back for season three as well. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, Rosas played the fan-favorite Frog Lady in season two. Whether this means the Frog Lady will be back or not is a little more unclear. After all, she played (but didn’t voice) Kuiil the Ugnaught in season one and she could put on any other costume and we wouldn’t necessarily recognize the actress beneath. I think many fans would be happy to see the Frog Lady back again though. Especially now that her eggs have had a chance to hatch and hopefully be less enticing for Grogu’s hungry tummy.
And of course, fans are speculating who Christopher Lloyd could be playing when he makes his Star Wars debut this season.
Whether any of the other characters will be back is still unknown. But with how The Book of Boba Fett left off, it seems likely that Din Djarin will be making a trip to Mandalore. Which would be the perfect opportunity for a return of Bo-Katan as played by Katee Sackoff.
Esposito has hinted that we can expect the universe to expand even further in The Mandalorian season three. And now that Din and Grogu are reunited, the entire galaxy is their space oyster. It seems likely that Din will travel to Mandalore in an attempt to redeem himself with The Armorer. This would also open us up to learning more about the missing history of the planet. But if we’ll be seeing more of this huge galaxy, there may be a few stops between here and there.
At this time, season three doesn’t have a hard premiere date. Supposedly we can expect a 2022 release. Season two’s October 2020 debut date and the late 2021 release date of The Book of Boba Fett have us thinking that autumn to winter of this year is most likely. But until then, seasons one and two of The Mandalorian, as well as The Book of Boba Fett, are all streaming on Disney+ for us to watch and re-watch.
What do you hope to see in The Mandalorian’s season three? Which characters do you want to see come back from previous seasons? Are there any characters who you’d like to see in new live-action appearances? Let us know in the comments!
