Video Games: ‘Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga’ Is Already Breaking Records
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga may be the best Lego game to date. It’s certainly breaking streaming records like it is.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was released earlier this week on Tuesday the fifth and within two hours it was already smashing steam records. With a peak of 82,517 concurrent users, there was a little while where Lego Star Wars was outpacing consistent Steam favorites like Team Fortress 2 and Rainbow Six Siege.
The previous record for peak concurrent Steam users for a Lego game was Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Eight years ago the Marvel heroes had 5,953 concurrent users. And Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga destroyed that record like a room full of younglings with a more than 1200% increase.
The current record holders for highest peak concurrent users among Lego games are:
Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga with 82,517 peak concurrent users.
Marvel Super Heroes with 5,953 peak concurrent users.
The Hobbit with 5,550 peak concurrent users.
The Ninjago Movie Videogame with 5,434 peak concurrent users.
The Lord of the Rings with 5,045 peak concurrent users.
Lego Worlds with 4,911 peak concurrent users.
Jurassic World with 3,498 peak concurrent users.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens with 2,586 peak concurrent users.
Batman 3: Beyond Gotham with 2,186 peak concurrent users.
Marvel’s Avengers with 2,112 peak concurrent users.
As a comparison point, at the time of writing the overall highest current players on a Steam Game is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with 354,766 current players and a thirty day peak of 1,013,237 players. PUBG: Battlegrounds has 72,851 current players and a thirty day peak of 535,587 players, and Team Fortress 2 has 65,550 current players with a thirty day peak of 92,526. Which means that however briefly, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga really was keeping up with the big kids.

I didn’t that know I needed Lego porgs in my life before this game.
And reviews have been overwhelmingly positive with Kotak and VGC both describing it as one of the best Star Wars games to date. At this time it’s impossible to say what the longevity of the game’s popularity will be or how good sales will be after the initial jump. But it’s a fun game in a popular franchise that record numbers of people have been enjoying. I bet it will do just fine.
