Warhammer 40K: More Chaos Marine Upgrades Coming
You didn’t think that the upgrade to 2 wounds was the only upgrade Chaos Marines were getting, did you? More changes are coming soon.
Games Workshop teased that Chaos Space Marines were (finally) getting 2 wounds. The chaos faithful let out a collective sigh of relief. But that was just the beginning. We’ve all noticed the uptick in lethality of 40k and the Chaos Space Marines have been taking notes. Get ready for even more upgrades in the near future.
“Legionaries are ferocious in close combat, with millennia of bloodshed as the perfect teacher. The new codex brings this viciousness to life by granting three attacks to each heretic – or four for the Aspiring Champion. That’s right, each Legionary fights with three times as much fury as before. The Great Rift definitely lit a fire under their power-armoured boots.”
Chaos Legionary New Upgrades
To kick things off let’s take a look at the new and improved statline of the renamed Chaos Space Marine to Legionary. You’ve probably seen the 2 wounds but how about that attack stat jumping to 3?! They also got a point in leadership, too. The leadership change is whatever. But the 2 wounds and 3 attacks is no joke! Those extra attacks are going to come in very handy when you combine them with some of the upgrade to their wargear.
The Heavy Chainaxe and Daemon Blade are both from the Kill Team kit. These were specific operative upgrade options you could build into your models. As you can see they are some pretty hard-hitting upgrades. Both come with a base 2 damage — perfect for cutting down those pesky 2 wound Primaris marines. They also come with the AP to make it stick. The Heavy Chainaxes is basically a powerfist when you consider the extra rule. The Daemon Blade can generate some extra mortal wounds as well.
If you’re a fan of the Balefire Acolyte then you’ll be pleased to know that he’s also getting added as a unit upgrade to your basic rank-and-file squads, too. He’s a Psyker that can help buff the squad he’s in so keep that model handy!
This is just the tip of the Traitor Legion Iceberg. Get ready for even more Chaos Space Marine (or should we start calling them Chaos Legionaries) very soon!
