Warhammer: Underworlds – Nethermaze Revealed
Games Workshop unveils the latest core set for Warhammer: Underworlds. Say hello to the Nethermaze!
It’s going down in the maze beneath Harrowdeep. We had our suspicions but now Games Workshop has confirmed that Warhammer: Underworlds Nethermaze is coming soon! The new core set has been revealed and we’re getting a first crack at the contents.
“This boxed set contains two new warbands drawn to the nexus of the Nethermaze – the Shadeborn, whom Morathi has sent to cut out the heart of the traitorous Queen Kia’tan, and Skittershank’s Clawpack, who seek a new source of penumbral power for the Clans Eshin.”
Nethermaze Warbands
The two new warbands that are being added to the Underworlds roster are Skittershank’s Clawpack and The Shadeborn.
Skittershank’s Clawpack
The Skaven are looking for new sources of penumbral power and the Nethermaze has enticed the rat-men deeper. Led by Slynk Skittershank, the Clawpack is going to be one agile warband. All of them can move five hexes! This should allow them to get where they need to be in order to activate their Inspire condition which is simply: kill the enemy leader.
The Shadeborn
“As a newborn god-queen hungering for yet more power, Morathi-Khaine covets the dark energies of the Liar’s Moon. Her operatives are the Shadeborn, adherents of the shadow arts. These fighters use the shade of cover to manoeuvre around their enemies, receiving buffs and ambushing unwary opponents. “
If you’re thinking to yourself “Oh, those Shadeborn look awfully familiar…aren’t those just repacks from other kits?” Not exactly. You’re probably thinking of the Khainite Shadowstalkers from Warcry. But look closely at those models:
While there are certainly some similar models they aren’t 1:1 repacks. Those are different poses. Which certainly raises some questions for later.
Anyhow, those are the two Warbands who are making their first moves into the Nethermaze but there will be more to come. This season of Underworlds is also introducing two new keywords: Map and Domain. We don’t have a ton of info on these just yet other than this tidbit from GW:
“One lets you gamble for glory, and the other lets you change the surroundings of this sunken maze to your advantage. “
As for which is which…well, we’ll find out soon enough!
Nethermaze is coming soon.
