D&D: Check Out Dragonlance’s New Novel ‘Dragons of Deceit’ Opening Excerpt
Dragonlance is back, with a new novel and two new games. Polygon unveiled an excerpt of the newest entry in the series, Dragons of Deceit.
Dragonlance is poised to return towards the end of the summer. On August 2nd, fans will once again be able to step into the world of Krynn where Dragons and their Lances await. We’ve seen a few bits here and there about the book. The protagonist of the new book is a woman named Destina Rosethorn.
And not long ago we got a look at the new cover and the book jacket blurb for the book. So we know that Destina will be swept up in the War of the Lance, and that time travel is at the heart of this first story:
Destina Rosethorn—as her name implies—believes herself to be a favored child of destiny. But when her father dies in the War of the Lance, she watches her carefully constructed world come crashing down. She loses not only her beloved father but also the legacy he has left her: the family lands and castle. To save her father, she hatches a bold plan—to go back in time and prevent his death.
First, she has to secure the Device of Time Journeying, last known to be in the possession of the spirited kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot. But to change time, she’ll need another magical artifact—the most powerful and dangerous artifact ever created. Destina’s quest takes her from the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin to the town of Solace and beyond, setting in motion a chain of disastrous events that threaten to divert the course of the River of Time, alter the past, and forever change the future.
Now, however, we have a look at an excerpt thanks to Polygon.
Dragons of Deceit Excerpt
Yesterday, Polygon revealed an exclusive look inside the new book. The first few pages paint a cozy picture of the Rosethorns’ home life. Literally, as there’s a look at an all new map of Ansalon. But, things rarely are idyllic for this long when the War of the Lance is brewing. Check it out:
