‘Destiny 2’: New ‘Season of the Haunted’ Brings the Heat with Solar 3.0 Update
Destiny 2 kicked off their Summer Seasonal Update with a whole bunch of fancy new items and a massive rework to the Solar sub-classes.
Season 17 of Destiny 2 launched this week just in time to feel that summer heat. This launch was slightly different from previous seasons as Bungie was completely quiet about the upcoming season. They left fans guessing what element was going to get a rework for the launch of the season. It was a coin flip between Arc and Solar; now we know. Solar 3.0 is here.
Destiny 2 Launches Solar 3.0
For the folks who aren’t in the know, Bungie has been reworking the elemental class system in their looter-shooter. When the Witch Queen launched earlier this year, Void 3.0 was launched and it gave the element a massive boost and allowed for a ton more customization for players. This system mirrored the Darkness element Stasis with the Aspect/Fragment system. Now, Solar 3.0 is here and it’s received the same treatment. The new keywords are more clearly defined and implemented and build-crafting for loadouts is looking amazing.
Personally, I’ve only gotten to spend a few minutes with the Solar 3.0 so far – I had to stop to write this article! But it’s good. REAL good. If you enjoyed Void 3.0 you’re going to get a real explosive blast with Solar 3.0. Titans are going to be bombing away with massive explosions and sunspots. Hunters are going to be tossing flaming knives and trickshotting their new tripmine bombs. And Warlocks are going to be snapping their fingers and living out their greatest Roy Mustang fantasies as everything burns around them.
New (Old) Exotic – Trespasser
Season 17 brings back an old school exotic from Destiny 1 with the return of the Trespasser Sidearm. While I’m personally not the biggest fan of Sidearms they did get a buff this season and this snappy little burster of a sidearm is going to be worth a look.
Aside from the exotic sidearm, there’s also new exotic armors to chase for each class and they are looking REAL spicy, too:
There’s also a ton of reprised gear coming back with the updated Leviathan. Is that a Beloved Sniper Rifle? Yes. Yes it is:
Along with Drang, Midi-mini Tool, Austringer and possibly more guns to re-collect from the new Leviathan. We won’t get into all the spoilers here, but let’s just say that Emperor Calus’s ship is back and things are a bit more…”Glykon” than before.
There are also new seasonal weapons to chase down as well. A new Trace Rifle, Scout Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and Glaive are all up for the taking. So load up your fire team and get to weapon farming!
New Armor Sets
It wouldn’t be a new season without some new armor sets to hunt down either. First up we have the armor you can get from the new activities/world drops:
It’s Eris Morn themed which clue you in about this season’s name. Her distinct flower emblem is displayed prominently on all the sets. And the green glow is the default color, too. But the real hotness is the new Seasonal Universal Ornaments which you can earn from the season pass. And yeah…I’m going to be rocking this look ASAP.
You can check out all the armors in your collections tab for a personal look. I think the Helmets are going to be VERY popular for each class.
Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted
This season lasts from May 24 – Aug 23. It’s time to head back to the moon light the Hive up with Solar 3.0!
