Star Wars: Ewan McGregor Hints at a ‘Fallen Order’ and ‘Kenobi’ Connection
Ewan McGregor dropped a subtle hint about the direction Kenobi may take and the show’s place in the Star Wars timeline.
Kenobi/Fallen Order Crossover Event
If you’ve both played Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and have been watching the Kenobi trailers, you’ve probably noticed the prominent feature of the Fortress Inquisitorius in both. This makes a lot of sense. The Inquisitors will be one of the major antagonists in the series. So a catching a glimpse of their home base isn’t entirely surprising. But according to Ewan McGregor the connection between the two may go deeper than that.
In an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show, McGregor spoke about his experience on the set of Kenobi. He mentioned how director Deborah Chow is an bonified Star Wars expert and understands how the various titles are supposed to connect and intersect.
“All of the storylines have to … match up” he said, and they “can’t have some fact in a video game that doesn’t match up to the movie.”
Unfortunately, we’ve seen first hand that sometimes a detail of the timeline gets forgotten. For example Kanan Jarrus’ experiences with Order 66 are different in The Bad Batch than in the comics. But let’s forget about that for a moment and focus on Kenobi.
It’s interesting that McGregor mentioned the games, specifically. Especially when a popular game that’s supposed to be getting a sequel announced soon also featured some of the same landmarks and Inquisitors. Like Obi-Wan, Cal Kestis is on the run from the Jedi hunting Inquisitors. I don’t want to speculate too much about a possible appearance from the Fallen Order character… But these streaming shows love their cameos.
Jedi Fallen Order
Star Was Jedi: Fallen Order follows Cal Kestis, a survivor of the infamous Order 66. Players help him escape Imperial capture, find a new Jedi master, and continue his training in the force. Throughout Fallen Order, we are introduced to a new Inquisitor, befriend the galaxy’s cutest droid, and face off against some of the most terrifying people in the galaxy. Supposedly this game will be having its sequel officially announced at Star Wars Celebration later this month.
Kenobi
Kenobi premiers on the Disney+ streaming service on Friday May 27th with subsequent episodes premiering on the following Wednesdays. The show as originally slated for a May 25th premier to coincide with the anniversary of the theatrical release of A New Hope, but had to be pushed back by a few days. It will feature the return of both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, the roles they had in the prequel trilogy films.
Are you excited for Kenobi, the rumored next Jedi Fallen Order game, and the connection between the two? Do you think we will get a character cameo in this series, and who from? Let us know in the comments!
