‘Horizon’ Series, ‘God of War’, & ‘Gran Turismo’ Will be TV Shows!
Sony announced that some of the PlayStation’s most popular games are getting the TV or movie treatment. And we’re very excited.
You don’t need to love or even be good at playing games to appreciate Horizon Zero Dawn or its sequel Horizon Forbidden West. They’re great games. Between a deep lore, incredible visuals, likable characters, and top notch voice acting, it’s a game you can watch somebody else play like a show. And soon, you’ll be able to watch Horizon as a show without anybody playing.
Sony confirmed earlier today that they are working with a variety of streaming services to give some of their most popular games new life. Gran Turismo will be going to a yet undisclosed streaming service, God of War will be coming to Amazon, and Horizon will soon be streaming on Netflix.

Will Netflix cancel this one as soon as it gets any traction? I really hope not!
At this time not a whole lot is known about any of these projects. In fact, it’s likely that they’re still fairly early on in the production process. So I’m not sure if there is a lot to know. But fans have been correctly speculating about the Amazon God of War project. They are thinking that a show or movie would focus on the more recent games. There is also speculation that these will be life-action shows. And after the number of coins we collectively threw at The Witcher, it seems like a fair bet. But animated projects have proven themselves time and time again. And, especially on Amazon, the success of Vox Machina has shown that high fantasy, animation, and adult storylines can absolutely join forces to great success. It seems that for these projects, there is no limit.
For now, we’ll have to wait for more information to know for sure. But in the meantime we will be excitedly waiting, speculating, and maybe even re-playing until they’re released.
Horizon
PlayStation describes Horizon as:
“In an era where Machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species, a young hunter named Aloy embarks on a journey to discover her destiny.
In a lush, post-apocalyptic world where nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization, pockets of humanity live on in primitive hunter-gatherer tribes. Their dominion over the new wilderness has been usurped by the Machines – fearsome mechanical creatures of unknown origin.”
God of War
PlayStation describes God of War as:
“Starting with the release of God of War in 2005 on PlayStation 2, Santa Monica Studio has crated seven games across multiple platforms. Up to the most recent release in 2018, the franchise focused on Kratos’ journey in the Greek world, following a path of vengeance as a result of being tricked into killing his family by the Olympian gods.”
Gran Turismo
PlayStation describes Tan Turismo as:
“Whether you’re a competitive or casual racer, collector, tuner, livery designer or photographer – find your line with a staggering collection of game modes including fan-favorites like GT Campaign, Arcade and Driving School.”
