D&D: WotC’s Latest Survey Could Mean ‘Giant’ Changes In The Future
WotC’s Unearthed Arcana brings a new survey to the table. Help shape the future with D&D’s Giant Options survey released a few weeks back.
Unearthed Arcana continues to bring us glimpses of what D&D’s future might hold. With the latest Unearthed Arcana, we got a look at giant-themed options for three classes, as well as a number of feats. And in D&D’s Giant Survey, WotC wants to know what you think.
As we’ve seen in the past, player feedback can help the new subclasses take shape. Sometimes a feature has changed pretty broadly from the initial playtest to the final version, other times, subclasses get done dirty. So if you have opinions, now’s the chance to share ’em.
Giant Options – Unearthed Arcana
The Giant Options Unearthed Arcana introduced the Path of the Giant barbarian subclass, the Circle of the Primeval druid subclass, the Runecrafter wizard subclass, and a collection of new feats. Each of the classes had its own special brand of Giant flavoring. Perhaps best of all was the Path of the Giant subclass, which let you do more damage with throwing weapons and throw your friends as a bonus action.
All features that could work as core parts of the Barbarian. The Runecrafter also presented some interesting options for Wizards with an expanded spellbook that you could alter fairly easily on the fly.
Druids had a little bit of a lackluster showing with a “primeval spirit” companion that doesn’t quite work as well as the Drake companion from the Drakewarden Ranger. At least on paper. Perhaps in playtesting it’ll shake out.
As for D&D’s giant survey itself?
All the usual questions are there. What do you think of the subclass features, how satisfied are you with the subclasses overall, how are the different feats in your games.
