Games Workshop is showcasing the Cargo-9 Ridgehauler Rules and Stats. Come see what this wasteland landtrain can do on the tabletop!

The Necromunda Ash Wastes are here are we’re about to get our first crack at long-haul trucking thanks to the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler. The rules will be officially out in the upcoming Book of the Outlands. That said, GW is dropping some tidbits about the big rig a little early.

“It might be a dead planet poisoned by millennia of toxic industry, but Necromunda remains an industrial powerhouse, its towering, smog-wreathed hives manufacturing unfathomable quantities of materiel for the Imperial war machine. Lots of cargo means lots of shipping, and – with relatively few spaceports – lots of shipping means lots of haulage. Enter the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler.”

Cargo-8 Ridgehauler Rules

For the low, low price of 230 credits (crew and wargear extra) you can run your own Cargo-8 Ridgehauler. Any gang (with the exception of the Ash Waste Nomads) can run one. I’m really looking forward to seeing the conversions for this one in particular. Aside from that fun fact, let’s check out that statline!

The truck itself comes with 6 Hull Points. It’s also packing some THICK armor on the front and sides. If you’re planning on assaulting one of these behemoths you better have brought some heavy firepower. It’s not the fastest vehicle out there but it’s going to be able to chug along pretty easily.

The Cargo-8 Ridgehauler is also beaming with wargear options. First up, you can have up to 4 of the Ridgehauler Trailers. Each one will run you 130 credits. Games Workshop also had this to say:

“A fully loaded Cargo-8 Ridgehauler has five cargo bays, weighing in at 26 Hull Points and bristling with weapon hardpoints. “

Doing some quick math, if a fully loaded truck with 4 trailers has 26 Hull Points, we’re looking at an additional 5 hull points per trailer. I’m very curious as to how that is going to be handled rules-wise. Is this one BIG truck with a massive stat line or do you “lose” trailers per 5 Hull Points lost.

In anycase, each of those trailers counts as a cargo bay and has their own batch of weapon hardpoints. Those hardpoints can be loaded up with some serious firepower options. The Cargo-8 Ridgehauler is basically a landtrain when you fully kit it out. Good luck assaulting one…you’re going to need it.

I’m also very curious about how using one of these is going to work out in terms of a campaign. I’m assuming there will be special scenarios for it along with a payout scale based on how successful your gang is at either attacking or defending one. Narratively, I think this could also be one of the most amazing additions to Necromunda ever.

Yeah…this is happening.

The Cargo-8 Ridgehauler, the trailers, and the Book of the Outlands (which has all the rest of the rules) will be out soon. I’m expecting a whole lot of vehicle options in that book to help combat of of these landtrains!
