40K FAQ Changes Obscuring Terrain Rules – FTN
Charging into Obscuring Terrain got a tad bit less wonky with the most recent FAQ change. Let’s talk about it.
Hey folks,
Wow wow wow. Are you feeling claustrophobic on the table? There may be no where to hide from a few assault based armies now. That might be a good thing and put some much needed spice in the game. Charging into Obscuring Terrain got a tad bit less wonky with the most recent FAQ change. Now players only need to come within 2 inches for Engagement range when charging units near/in Obscuring Terrain. This has a lot of players shaking in their boots. Is this a good thing?
The Assault Phase is one of the most skill based activities in this game and it just got a little harder to avoid. I mean.. basically the games needs terrain to be fun and equal the playing field for everyone involved. There were ‘exploits’ for players to further delay close proximity contact with the opponent that we can guess were unintentional as far as the rules go.
We’ve got a bit of a band-aid on that while still preserving lanes of fire and maneuvering on the table while giving some home for interactivity for assault armies. Full disclosure, I play Blood Angels and am very happy about this change.

FTN mostly focuses on Warhammer 40k. But you will see that in the first few episodes, we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record, and I hope they help pass the time for you. Please please please check out the new Forge The Narrative objective markers. These things look awesome.
