Games Workshop dropped some FAQ yesterday for Age of Sigmar. Here’s some of the fall out for those Fireworks!

We already covered some of the big changes for the 40k FAQ. But Age of Sigmar got a similar FAQ drop yesterday. There were definately some shake-ups and some clean-ups that happened. If you play AoS, you might want to hop over to the FAQ page to double check your army for the changes. That said, here’s a few of the big updates.

Battletome: Daughters of Khaine

This change impacts Zainthar Kai Melusai in that they used to be able to attack after death from any attack — now it’s just melee attacks. So out of sequence attacks. There’s also some question on how this works with unit coherency and if you pull models/resolve attacks one at a time now.

For Morathi, the Iron Heart of Khaine got a clarification about how wounds beyond 3 are ignored and have no effect. This was basically to to clean up the interaction between weapons that might ignore that effect like Sigvald’s Shardslash. This is a noteworthy change because you might see this roll out to other characters that a similar ability.

One of the big changes we saw coming was the change to how Blood Tithe points are spent and stored. Now, many of the abilities that used to reset the count to zero have changed so they no longer do that. This should be a big boon for BoK players out there!

Kharadron Overlords

Kharadron Overlords got a change to how their Skyvessels work. This was a needed clarification for them as it allows the unit that was garrisoned to leave and move and still allows the skyvessel to move also.

Core Rules Changes

This change impacts modifiers and effects that change characteristics to a specific value. The implications here are…complicated. For example, remember that Gladiatrix that came out not too long ago? Well, she’s got an aura that changes rend “-” to  “-1” which is fine by itself. So what happens now, if that unit gets Mindrazor cast on them? And what happens if they move out of the aura but the Gladiatrix then moves to get them back in the aura? From this ruling, they no longer have the effect of Mindrazor and go back to Rend -1.

It’s a weird one! And that’s probably just one example of how stacking/not-stacking modifiers (specifically for rend) can get wonky.
