One of Magic: the Gathering’s biggest stores, Card Kingdom, will soon have a union, after employees successfully vote to unionize.

Card Kingdom employees successfully voted to unionize this week. Following a months-long campaign that began back in April, employees at Card Kingdom will unionize pending recognition from the NLRB.

After asking Card Kingdom to voluntarily recognize their union back in May, employees took the matter to a vote. And on July 26th, the vote passed with an overwhelming majority of employees voting in favor of the union:

Like most employee unions forming these days, their demands are for what anyone wants. A living wage, commitment to wage increases, meaningful raises.

Following the successful election, Card Kingdom issued their own statement, welcoming the union.

Today, the National Labor Relations Board announced the results of the union election process for Card Kingdom’s Operations employees. With a majority of votes, the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 3000, has been elected to represent Operations employees from Card Kingdom.

We continue our commitment to our employees. We maintain our long-term aspiration to become a truly employee-centered gaming company, and the union is now part of that journey. We have great work ahead of us, and we are excited about the future of all employees.

Once the NLRB certifies the vote, we look forward to negotiating a contract with the union. We also look forward to working with our non-union employees to ensure Card Kingdom continues to evolve so we can best meet everyone’s needs.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who participated in this process. Your voices have revitalized many important discussions and will help prioritize how we move forward as a company.
