Horus Heresy: Ka’Bandha Rules Revealed

Oh man…Ka’Bandha is coming to a Horus Heresy Tabletop near you and he’s ANGRY. How angry? 550 points worth of Khorne’s fury angry. You do NOT want to tackle this juiced-up Bloodthirster alone.

To start, just look at that stat-line! Sheesh. And consider that this wall of 8’s is backed up by a boat-load of special rules to match:
A 3+ save on toughness 8 is already a hill to climb. Furthermore, we have to deal with a 4+ invulnerable (if you can bypass that armor) and an It Will Not Die +5 roll, too. And then we get into all the other special rules which are just gross. On top of that he’s got a bunch more special rules to read, too!
Let’s talk about his weapons for a moment. Ka’Bandha has two profiles to work with. One is the Melee weapons which peg him at Str+4 (that’s a strength 12 if you’re keeping track at home) with AP 2 and the two-hander and sunder rules. Or the Ranged version which is really just his screaming rage made manifest regardless of what ‘weapons’ it says he has. It’s a 6″ range but it’s clocking in at str 6 AP 2 Assault 7! That’s good enough to melt marines with.
Ka’Bandha’s Daemonic Wings are a special version of the Fly rule. Basically, he can move 14″ and has to land 1″ away from any model from another unit. He can also run with those wings and get to add his initiative to the move! He can’t shoot or charge after running (thankfully) but he’s a lot quicker than that movement 8 suggests.
He’s also got a bit of a Rivalry with Sanguinius so if he shows up on the tabletop, be sure to check that section out. Miasma of Rage boosts any Rage (X) or Rampage (X) abilities by +1 for units when he’s within 12″ of them. And finally Scythe of Hatred allows you to drop a Hellstorm Template on the tabletop. Any unit caught in it takes an automatic number of strength AP ‘-‘ hits equal to the number of unsaved wounds caused by Ka’Bandha in Melee that round. Oof.
