So get your playmat ready, set your spindown to 20, and let’s dive into the data, brought to us by TCGPlayer.com.
Our deck of the week is Crashing Footfalls by MaxMagicer, which is currently trending on TCGPlayer. The deck came in first place during the MTGO Modern Super Qualifier on July 3rd.
Deck Notes
The main feature of this deck is Cascade. When you play a spell with Cascade, you can reveal cards from the top of your deck until you hit a nonland spell that costs less and play that spell for free. And if that card also has Cascade… Well, you can see where this is going. Plus, a lot of dual cards with low casting costs really help facilitate the rolling cascade of damage.
While you can’t cast a card for its Evoke cost when you Cascade, you can cast an Adventure. So cards like Bonecrusher Giant and Brazen Borrower become very powerful and versatile in a deck built around Cascade.
Crashing Footfalls (the card) itself lends its name to the deck. Thanks to Suspend, it has a Casting Cost of 0, which means it can be cast immediately and for free, if you hit it during a Cascade. It’s a trick that feels broken, so take advantage of this interaction while you can.
