Big changes are on the way! TCGPlayer has just expanded its services with the acquisition of ChannelFireball and Binder POS.

The new deal will move the online sales platforms under one umbrella. ChannelFireball merged with BinderPOS in 2020. The merger led to the creation of CFB Group and CFB Marketplace, which allowed retailers to sell on the site. In this new agreement, TCGplayer gets BinderPOS, the ChannelFireball content arm, the ChannelFireball Marketplace, and ChannelFireball Events.

This is a major acquisition or TCGplayer, making it a more complete provider for sellers and retailers. It also presents the possibility for TCGplayer to return to live card game events via ChannelFireball Events. The streamlining is going to bring some big, positive changes to card collecting and gaming for everyone.

TCGPlayer’s Future Plans

Chedy Hampson, Founder and CEO of TCGplayer, said in a statement:

“For the first time ever, TCGplayer will provide a comprehensive POS solution that seamlessly connects a hobby store’s inventory to the TCGplayer Marketplace while also enabling the sale of any collectible on their store’s shelves. [This is] including comic books, sports cards, and board games. As a combined entity, we will also merge the industry’s best content with the world’s largest marketplace for TCGs. [We’re} bringing together our world-class expertise, infrastructure, and scale. We expect to deliver value to our community in new and exciting ways.

“As a combined company, we will work together to advance TCGplayer’s Purpose – connecting hobbyists to communities to relentlessly improve the exchange of things and thoughts that fuel their passions. This Purpose is core to both companies and critical to creating a shared organization with a common goal of empowering sellers. As well as delighting hobbyists across the collectibles universe. We have long admired the ChannelFireball and BinderPOS team and look forward to welcoming this talented group of professionals to TCGplayer. I am confident that through this combination, we will create enhanced opportunities for team members, hobbyists, sellers, and all our shared partners.”

We’ll see where this goes in the next several months. It’s a big change.
