Total War: Warhammer 3 – Meet Festus Nurgle’s Champion of Chaos
There’s a new Champion of Chaos unveiled today. He’s big, he’s green, and he’s full of plagues: Festus, Nurgle’s newest Champion of Chaos.
The newest Champion in Champions of Chaos, the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC has been revealed. Come meet Festus the Leechlord. Kaster of plagues and pestilence and member of the demonic Neverborn of Nurgle.
Doctors hate him, which is ironic, because he himself is a doctor. Though when he treats sickness, it’s more like he treats the sickness to a nice stay in your bodily organs where it can fester. And grow. While you become one of Nurgle’s newest devotees.
Meet Festus, Champion of Plagues
Greetings from the land of Nurgle! Today we have the incurable pleasure of introducing the Dark Apothecary, the Fecundite, the one and only Festus the Leechlord! Our second Champion of chaos joins Total War: WARHAMMER III this August 23rd.
Festus the Leechlord was a doctor in his mortal life. But he pledged a lifetime of servitude to the dark god in exchange for forbidden knowledge. Now, Festus the Leechlord wages war to study sickness and plague as they spread in that most fecund of climes: the battlefield.
From his victories, he harvests the ingredients he needs to unleash new and deadly diseases all in Nurgle’s name.
Here’s a look at how he works in-game:
Festus concots potions and poisons. As a spellcaster, he’s got access to the Lore of Nurgle spells. He has two battlefield auras: Healing Elixirs which replenishes the hit points of his units. And Harbinger of Pestilence, which deals damage to enemy combatants.
Faction effects include:
- Vassals gain poison attacks and spread Nurgle’s corruption
- Can brew Plagues
- Souls +25 when a plague is spread
While his Lord Effects are:
- Plague duration: +3 turns (local armies)
- Battle healing cap: +25% (Lord’s Army)
All of which makes him a deadly threat. While he’s not necessarily a frontline brawler, having him up near the action means you can bolster your forces or hamper enemies as needed.
