‘Doctor Strange’ Writer C. Robert Cargill Dishes About New Movie ‘The Black Phone’
C. Robert Cargill is one of the screen writers behind The Black Phone, Sinister, and 2016’s Doctor Strange. We got a chance to pick his brain.
The Black Phone is based on a short story by Joe Hill and the script is from C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson (who also worked on Sinister and Doctor Strange). That combination makes for a great horror movie. Ethan Hawke as a deranged serial killer with a mask fetish is another key element.
The story: shy and clever Finney Shaw is abducted by a sadistic killer nicknamed The Grabber. The masked psychopath traps him in a soundproofed basement where no one can hear him, but he’s not alone. A disconnected phone starts to ring and the killer’s previous victims are on the other end. They are determined to help Finney escape their fate.
The movie is in theaters now and you can check out my spoiler free review here.
