Frogs are great. You know this. I know this. Even D&D knows this with all the frogs they have. These are the best ones.

What is it about frogs that make them so great? Is it their beautiful coloration? The fact that they go ribbit? My own personal theory is that they make for the absolute best weird little guys. And that’s what D&D lives on.

Whatever the reasoning, whether you’ve got frog knights or frog merchants, or even just plain frogs, D&D is chock full of ’em. And these ones are the best.

Grungs

Let’s talk about Grungs. These are the quintessential frogs in D&D. They’re cute. They’re fierce. If a Grung walked up to you in armor, you’d follow it all the way to Mordor, calling it your brother, your captain, your king.

Especially that red one

Grungs are one of the few pc options that are naturally poisonous, but boy howdy are they absolutely deadly. Additionally, Grungs are the star of their very own adventure, One Grung Above which makes the Grung among the best frogs in D&D.

Bullywugs

The other awesome frog people in D&D. Bullywugs are amazing because they can speak with frogs and toads, are camouflaged in the swamp, can jump real high, and are canonically the frog knights of D&D.

Sadly there’s no official option to play as one of these frog friends yet. But give it time. WotC has “big announcements” next week.

Froghemoth

It’s a frog, it’s a behemoth. It’s a Froghemoth. For some, that’s good enough, but let’s just talk about what makes this green guy great.

For starters, it’s Huge, but it’s not arrogant about it. Which is good. For two, these are hungry hungry frog monsters who want to eat what they can and will often wander through their swampy terrain carrying a snack. This means they’re the perfect horrible monster for any party to adopt because all you have to do is feed it. On top of that, it has four tentacles that can slam and grab foes, while it can swallow up to two medium creatures at once. An impressive trick at parties.

Slaad

These are chaos frogs. Slaadi come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are powerful warriors, others make marvelous assassins. And some become arcane abominations, the likes of which you haven’t seen before.

Sure, they might implant you with an egg which will eventually kill you as it bursts out of your chest. But that’s just how life is sometimes. Especially in 2022.

Giant Frog

This is a regular frog. But it’s really big. Big enough that you could ride on it.

Happy Adventuring
