Shudder’s ‘Glorious’ Stars J.K. Simmons as a Monster Living in a Rest Stop Bathroom
J.K. Simmons. Lovecraftian monster. Rest stop bathroom glory hole. The trailer for Glorious has to be seen to be believed.
Glorious is set in a rest stop bathroom. It houses an otherworldly monster (voiced by J.K. Simmons) that uses the glory hole in the last stall to communicate across time and space. Wes has just gone through a painful breakup (Ryan Kwanten from True Blood) and is traveling to start over. He enters the bathroom to do normal bathroom stuff, then he’s asked by the monster to… save the world. As he tries to escape the bathroom and deal with the monster, the world around him falls into madness.
Yep. Yeah, feel free to read that again. It’s bonkers. It also looks both hilarious and terrifying.
This is one twisted psychological horror. Lovecraftian horror meets Porky’s. The premise is goofy, but there seems to be a lot more going on here than the painting of the three-boobed lady with tentacles coming out of her head and a hole drilled in her face. And whatever horrific god is speaking through it. I’m not sure what to say other than it looks insane and I want to watch it.
