Every time we get new Star Wars there seems to be even more starships, but these are a few of the galaxy’s standouts ships.

Star Wars is full of pretty cool ships. They and the space wizards are some of the biggest selling points of the series, and they work. Because the galaxy is full of some pretty darn cool ships. These are a few of our favorites.

X-Wing

The X-Wing is a classic. Its easily recognizable silhouette and place in galactic dogfights are synonymous with Star Wars. So much so that while other ships come and go and we get new, updated, shiny spaceships as more is added to the series, the X-Wings always manage to stick around in one way or another. There are even entire games dedicated to these little guys. Is the X-Wing perfect? No. But it’s iconic and it destroyed the Death Star. What more could you want?

The Ghost

There’s a chance you’ve never heard of this ship, and if that’s the case drop what you’re doing and go watch Star Wars: Rebels right now. The ship of Hera Syndulla, it’s one of the best in the Rebel Alliance fleet with one of the best pilots. Like the Millennium Falcon, it was once a cargo vessel but many modifications made The Ghost a double-duty fighter and shuttle that gives the Empire quite a bit of trouble.

A-Wing

Debuting for the Battle of Endor, the A-Wing hasn’t been with us quite as long as the X-Wing, but almost. Known for being fast, the A-Wing helped pilots keep up with the extremely speedy TIE fighters and assisted in bringing down a Super Star Destroyer. This is another ship that seems to stay with the Rebellion for years. The A-Wing Starfighter of the Galactic Civil War is eventually upgraded to the A-Wing Interceptor of the New Republic and the Resistance. Proving once again that if it’s not broken, just keep using it.

The Profundity

We were introduced to The Profundity in Rogue One. And then like so many things in Rogue One it was cruelly ripped away from us. This Mon Calamari ship, commanded by Admiral Raddus was one of the largest and most noticeable of the fleet approaching the Battle of Scarif. Unfortunately, it’s also the ship that received the Death Star plans and was visited by Darth Vader towards the end of the movie. While the plans escaped intact, The Profundity was lost.

U-Wing

The U-Wing is a pretty standard gunship, but it’s designed specifically for providing cover fire to ground forces in battle. In fact, this ship was pivotal in not only the protection of but the transportation of those troops. They also have a great wing design that retracts to have a forward or backward-facing position depending on whether they were engaged in battle or interstellar travel.

What’s your favorite starship in Star Wars? Do you prefer large ships for teams or single-person ships? Which would you want to fly in if you had a chance? Let us know in the comments!
