Warhammer 40K Hot Mess – Dark Angels Land Speeder Vengeance
This week’s Hot Mess is a bunch Land Speeder parts and Dark Angels iconography, mixed with some weird weapons. The Land Speeder Vengeance needs help!
Woof was this a goofy looking model when it came out. I think we called it the Dark Angels DJ floating booth. But man – it is just a weird kit. You have the gunner shoved so far forward he looks comical and then some crazy looking guns in the back. I have no clue how this weird thing got smashed together. It is just a lot of stuff that doesn’t work to well as they wanted it to feel gothic. But like a hot topic gothic mess.
I still don’t understand why this kit wasn’t set up to be a cool Primarus land speeder character but that is me just thinking too hard about a weird looking model. Is it supposed to be a murder death box? Is it supposed to support things? Why is it so dang expensive? Dark Angels should have some weird Dark Technology so it has me think this thing should look more Horus Heresy like but that is just me. Let’s see if we can discuss some ways to make the rules better.
Land Speeder Vengeance
Hey I am a bigger Land Speeder that has a mean looking Plasma cannon thing. Plus a hype man that can shoot a Heavy Bolter or Assault Cannon. Oh I also really like gothic architecture so I have to add it to all my stuff. It is my thing and you have to accept it. I also have a brother that gives out cover to other Dark Angels. But that doesn’t matter too much because we are talking about how bad the Plasma brother is.
Let’s Make the Gun Good
Dark Angels have some Dark Technologies they can use – so why not just make this a friggin badass plasma cannon. Let it not overheat, give it flat 4 damage, and have it rock things it shoots at. Give it 4d3 shots as it has two plasma cannons. Have the Heavy Bolter/Assault Cannon do some kind of marking of a unit if it shoots at it first with that gun. Let it be a little murder box that floats around and murders things.
It Has All this Cool Grim Architecture – Let It Do Something With It
Hey why doesn’t it do something cool like give a leadership bubble because it is carrying some old pieces of their homeworld. Or let it be scary for Chaos to deal with it as it causes some kind of odd aura things. Or just let it be tougher as it is built on arcane technologies. If it is supposed to be weird and unique – let it be weird.
Hey Give It a Cool Variant
Make a heavier armor version that forgoes the plasma and give it like super assault cannons. It is designed to mow down enemies. Or let it have a different shooting profile for the plasma gun that lets it spit out lots of plasma death. Just something that lets it do a few more things then just be annoying for somewhat heavy armor. Heck give it a supercharged shot so it can burn a hole thru a tank or something.
Let’s Make the Land Speeder Vengeance Neat!
I don’t think this is an amazing kit as it looks goofy – but maybe make it better? If Marines need unique units to make their chapters stand out then working on this unit for Dark Angels might be a cool thing. They are one of the few Marines that have some unique vehicles added to them. So let these floating little jerks do something neat.
