‘WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story’ Trailer – The King of Parodies Makes Out with Madonna
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is very loosely based on the world’s favorite parody song writing accordion player. It has a new trailer.
This mockumentary/biopic is the one a silly, irreverent person like Weird Al Yankovic deserves. It’s soaked in glitz of the music business and claims to give a more in-depth look at Yankovic’s life fans haven’t seen. What we’ve seen so far is also more than a bit ridiculous. When the project was announced the star had this to say about it:
“When my last movie, UHF, came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years. Like clockwork.”
The latest trailer features Weird Al classics “My Bologna” and “I Love Rocky Road ” – plus a lot of Evan Rachel Wood as a very horny Madonna with bad intentions.
Some fans have expressed reservations about the way the musician is being portrayed. Yankovic is a vegetarian that doesn’t drink alcohol and has been described by friends as polite and introverted. He co-wrote the script that’s obviously a farce, so he’s just fine with it. If you expected a serious and totally factual biopic, are you really a Weird Al Yankovic fan?
The casting is fantastic. I’m a bit sad that James Preston Rogers’s Hulk Hogan didn’t make an appearance. Radcliffe and Wood are perfect.
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story
The biopic is written by Eric Appel and Yankovic and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Evan Rachel Wood, James Preston Rogers, and Rainn Wilson.
“The unexaggerated true story about the greatest musician of our time. From a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, Al rebelled. He made his dream of changing the words to world-renowned songs come true. An instant success and sex symbol, Al lives an excessive lifestyle and pursues an infamous romance that nearly destroys him.”
