Age of Sigmar: Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome Overview
There’s some changes on the horizon with a new Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome. So what’s new? Let’s hit the highlights.
We’ve got our copy of the Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome in the studio and our man Clint is in the house to cover the big changes ahead.
Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome
For the most part there’s actually not a TON of changes to the core of the Disciples of Tzeentch army. They still generate Fate Points from spell casting (friendly or unfriendly), they still have Destiny Dice, their Locus of Change now causes a -1 to hit for enemy melee attacks against units in range. The units themselves got tweaked a bit with a lot of little things throughout the book. But what’s actually a really big change is their new Arcane Armies ability.
This encourages Tzeentch Players to take a Tzeentch Endless Spell as the “reward” is that you get to automatically cast it on the first battle round and your opponent can’t stop you.
This cast also counts towards your Fate Points, too. So that’s a nice bump as well. Personally, if I had to choose just one, I’d probably lean towards the Tome of Eyes for the extra casting…but hey — that’s just me.
Because this is a new Battletome, you’ve got your updated Grand Stratagems, Battle Tactics and your own Core Battalion, too. The Tzeentch one involves Kairos and 3 more Lords of Change. I don’t know how often you’re going to see that one but if you do they are going to get extra Command Points. Expect lots of spell casting, too.
Kairos is still really good. So if you’re looking for a place to start with a new Disciples of Tzeentch Army you can’t really go wrong with this model. From there you’re going to want to find a good balance between magic and might — and Tzeentch has quite a few options for that. Spell casting is key. And your Heroes are going to do the majority of that heavy lifting (aka the magic). So finding some solid chaff (aka the might) to stick around and keep them in the fight is what you’ll need.
The Gaunt Summoner — you might want one in your lists!
This book could be one of the most balanced books yet in AoS 3.0. We’ll have to wait and see how it shakes out once hits the community proper but that’s a good thing. How Tzeentchy would it be if their battletome brought some balance to the game? Change is weird, man!
