These animes recently had their next seasons announced, and we can’t wait to jump back into some of our favorite shows really soon!

I love new anime. Nothing compares to seeing a brand-new show with a ton of potential and being excited to jump right in. They don’t all, hold up, but I’m not often disappointed. And sometimes I find a new favorite that I want to see more of after the first season wraps up. Because while new anime is great, your old steady favorites always manage to feel like a comfortable old friend returning from a long trip. These animes recently had their next seasons announced, and we can’t wait to get back together with our old anime friends.

Way of the Househusband

I wish I had more success convincing people to watch this one, but the humor isn’t for everybody and that’s okay. Tatsu is a former Yakuza boss. But his wife is a successful, career-focused business woman so he quits the life of crime and commits all of his focus to be a househusband. This doesn’t stop former Yakuza contacts from popping in from time to time, though. It doesn’t sound like it should be funny, but the way it describes the mundane in the most ridiculous organized-crime adjacent ways is always hilarious.

All of the characters are a delight and nobody is what you think they’ll be when you first meet them. And episodes are very short. So if you’re limited on time, you’ll only be committing about fifteen minutes to each episode. Season two will be returning to Netflix in January 2023.

Aggretsuko

Aggretsuko is one of the most relatable anime out there. The cast of cutsie Sanrio animals is (mostly) youngish adults working the nine-to-five office grind and hating it. But they’re all multifaceted characters with hobbies (such as singing metal songs at karaoke), making the whole thing feel very real to anyone who’s ever stepped foot in an office building. More recent episodes have gotten a little bigger as Retsuko dated a millionaire and joined a girl band, and season five looks like it will feature her running for office. The upcoming fifth season will be the show’s final installment and is expected to join Netflix in February 2023.

Jujutsu Kaisen

We’ve known season two was coming for a little while. After the success of the first season and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie (which is officially on Crunchyroll if you haven’t been able to watch it yet), season two was all but an inevitability. A few weeks back it was even officially confirmed with little other information. But this week we got some news that’s either very exciting or very overwhelming. Season Two of Jujutsu Kaisen will stream on Crunchyroll sometime in 2023 and will run for two quarters. Or, a continuous half year. That’s a lot of Jujutsu Kaisen to look forward to!

Which upcoming and returning animes are you looking forward to? Does this week’s news contain any of your favorites? Do you prefer a returning anime or a new one? Let us know in the comments!
