WizKids upcoming Icons of the Realm line for Dragonlance features some impressive showpiece miniatures, including a dragonrider, ready to lance a dragon.

It stands to reason that you might expect to see dragons and/or lances in a set of minis all about Dragonlance. And that’s exactly what we’ve got with this latest wave of Dragonlance miniature pre-orders.

WizKids’ Dragonlance mini set has shown us miniatures from disparate armies, but now we get a glimpse of a person riding a dragon. One of the like big themes of Dragonlance is that people ride dragons and use special dragon-slaying lances, called, funnily enough, dragonlances, from the back of them.

D&D Icons of the Realms: Dragonlance Kensaldi on Red Dragon – $89.99

So right away you can see this is another of WizKids’ big dragon miniatures. They’ve made a few, this newest pose is in flight. But is also wearing armor on its shoulders and forelimbs and main horn ridge.

On top of that, this dragon wears an exotic saddle, upon which sits a rider, presumably Kensaldi.

Kensaldi can be mounted or unmounted, which is neat if you just want to have a big flying armored dragon miniature. No rider is needed. Kensaldi is a heavily armored figure as well. Wielding a massive spear (or potentially a Dragonlance), and fitted with a red crystal gem in one eye socket, Kensaldi looks fearsome indeed.

And the scars on their face — are those from dragonflame? Perhaps finest of all are the nicks and dents on the armor. These show that Kensaldi has been in many a battle.

Their latest one will surely bring them into conflict with the PCs. Like most of the other miniatures in the line, these more than likely correspond to characters that may be found in the adventure itself. So look for more Kensaldi in Shadow of the Dragon Queen.
