Horus Heresy: Free Exemplary Battles Download ‘Axandria IV’
The Thousand Sons strike back in this new Exemplary Battles Download from Games Workshop for the Horus Heresy.
Exemplary Battles are “historic” battles that took place during the Horus Heresy. They are packed with lore and unique scenarios that you can play for yourself. You don’t have to have the exact same armies that participated but that does add to the thematic elements. In any case the latest one is taking us to Axanadria IV where the Thousand Sons are launching a plot all their own.
“Ruleswise, this month’s new unit is something out of the ordinary, drawn from the Order of Ruin, a little-explored class of technomancers whom we hope Thousand Sons players will find interesting from both a modelling and a gameplay perspective.”

This particular battle does feature the forces of the Thousand Sons against the Imperial Fists and the Legio Custodes. While those are the recommended forces the scenario itself could be played with any forces (with modifications obviously).
What makes this scenario truly unique is the addition of the Thousand Sons Numerologists Cabal…and it’s kinda why you want to use them for it. They are a new unit with some interesting abilities.
That Life Warded ability keeps the Numerologist in the fight for sure. This unit isn’t exactly game breaking but it’s a nice change of pace from a typical squad. And as an Elite slot you do have to use one of your slots for them instead of the many other options.
