Warhammer 40K: Leagues of Votann Army Set – Point Breakdown
How many points worth of Kin are in the Leagues of Votann Army Set? We’re breaking down the points values to find out.
We already took a closer look at the contents inside the box and also had some thoughts on the new book, too. Now we’re going to take a closer look at the value of the Army Set in terms of pure points. How much more will you need to fill out a 2000 point roster? That’s what we’re going to find out!
The Leagues of Votann Army Set Point Breakdown
Army Set Contents
1x Ûthar the Destined 140 Points — who can also be built as a Kâhl (70 Points + wargear)
1x Einhyr Champion 90 Points + wargear
3x Hernkyn Pioneers 90 Points + wargear
20x Hearthkyn Warriors 220 Points + wargear
Army Points Total: 540 Points + wargear, or 470 + wargear with a Kâhl
So just purely on the unit costs with zero upgrades you’re sitting around 570 points. But there’s a lot of upgrades, specifically for the Hearthkyn Warriors.
The Ion Blasters would cost 1 point per swap while the rest of the upgrades are either 5, 10, or 20 points in the case of the Magna-rail rifle. The Theyn’s upgrades are also either 5 or 10 points with the Concussion Gauntlet being the only 10 cost option.
At the end of the day, regardless of how you kit everything out you’ll end up with flexible Force Org breakdown. You’ve got 2 HQ options, up to 2 Troops (if you split the Hearthkyn into two units) and a Fast Attack option with the Hernkyn Pioneers. As far as building out the core of an army this checks all those boxes.
The Army Set is also the first crack you’ll have at getting these models. And, unfortunately, we won’t be seeing any more units for the Leagues of Votann released from GW this weekend for Pre-order. But that just means when these Army Sets do arrive you’ll have a couple weeks to work on getting them built and ready for the tabletop!
Leagues of Votann Army Set $200
“The Leagues of Votann have emerged from the depths of the galactic core. To face their armies in battle is to stand before an armoured avalanche that crushes all in its path. It is to be appraised and then brusquely dealt with by attackers who see you as little more than an obstruction to profit – or worse, as a hated nemesis whose annihilation is worth any cost. To their partners in trade and war, the Kin are invaluable allies. Yet those they deem a risk to their peoples’ survival face destruction, meted out with the same relentless rigour that the Kin apply to all their undertakings.”
Unsurprisingly, the Army Set has already sold out online from GW. I hope you all got your pre-orders in if you wanted one…
