Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is coming back in October — and a new expansion is also on the way. Say hello to Nightwars.

Well this was unexpected! Warhammer Quest: Cursed City made a big splash back in 2021 and then quickly went dark. It returned earlier this year as a Made-to-Order product. Now Games Workshop has announced it’s returning in October AND it’s getting a new expansion as well!

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City – Nightwars picks up where Cursed City left off, continuing the narrative with new journeys, powerful upgrades, and new rules for horrific enemies that a valiant adventuring party can fight during the Curse of Night Unending.”

Assuming your party managed to defeat the denizens of the Cursed City you’ll be able to continue your adventuring in Nightwars. Three more vampires have risen up to fill the power vacuum left by Radukar’s absence. Take on Lady Annika the Thirsting Blade, Carmilla DuSang, and Kritza, the Rat Prince!

Annika and Kritza are both characters in the Soulblight Gravelord Battletome. Carmilla DuSang is a new character and the model that GW is using for her is the Vampire Lord. But don’t let that fool you — each of these vampires will provide their own challenges. Luckily for the heroes, they will gain some new tricks of their own.

“As they gain experience, your heroes will be able to unlock elite classes with new abilities. They’ll need all the help they can get to take down all three bloodsuckers and the monstrous creatures that still stalk the streets of Ulfenkarn.”

There’s also rumors that Radukar might even have returned with a new form as well. Honestly, that’s kind of fitting as his “new form” is the one that was available outside the Cursed City Boxed set.

This expansion is also different that previous Warhammer Quest expansions (a la Black Fortress) as there are no miniatures in the box. It’s mostly more tokens, tiles, and cards, trackers, and rules.

If you want to continue your fight against the forces of the Cursed City you’ll have to pick up these miniatures from GW. They are all part of the Soulblight Gravelords line. You may also want to snag some Fell Bats because those are also needed.

Return To The Cursed City

It’s a little surprising that Cursed City is getting an expansion as well as another reprinting in October. Games Workshop says, Cursed City “will return to store shelves for good this October” so that does sound like this product will be in production for a lot longer than last time. Does that mean more expansions or updates later? Will we see a continuation of the story with more characters (both good and bad) added to the game? We’ve got questions!

Whatever the case, Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is back and it’s getting an expansion!

I did not expect to find out about a Cursed City Expansion today…but I’m not mad about it!
