Crossover Event: New October Horror Movies to Send Shivers Up Your Spine
Spooky season and a deluge of horror movies are upon us. The Crossover Event crew some recommendations for you!
This week Danni, Martin, and Chris share the movies and shows they’re looking forward to this horror season – and that you should check out. From the kings and queens of Dragula: Titans to Hellraiser and The Menu. Chris went to Fantastic Fest and saw a bunch of exclusive premieres, so he’s able to give us a little sneak peek at what’s coming up.
It’s going to be a great Halloween month, there are a ton of new titles for all kinds of horror fans. I’m definitely watching what the crew mentioned, but these projects are what I’m looking forward to the most.
Werewolf By Night
This take on the classic comic is shot in black and white and is clearly inspired by the Universal monster movies. A group of monster hunters come together to decide who will inherit the powerful Bloodstone after its former owner has passed. In order to lay claim to it they must defeat a captured monster. What only one of them knows is that he is a monster himself and he’s not there for the stone. The movie debuts on Disney+ on October 7th.
The Midnight Club
Based on Christopher Pike‘s YA novel about a group of terminally ill teens in a hospice. They meet at midnight to tell scary stories to one another. The group makes a pact that when they die they’ll come back and somehow communicate with those that are still alive. In the series, the club will be used as a platform to tell the many stories from Pike’s catalog. I inhaled his books when I was a kid, so I’m all about this. It drops on Netflix October 7th.
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities
Four nights of tales from some of the top names in horror? Count me in. Viewers are going to be treated to stories and sights from across the genre. From gothic and demonic horror to more modern philosophical takes with a nasty-looking acid trip. Each episode has a different director and a massive cast of great actors. It streams on Netflix October 25th-28th.
