The show said goodbye to Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor on Sunday. The last episode of this season had a surprising and confusing ending for both the audience and the characters.

David Tennant’s Return
Instead of regenerating into the next doctor, they become the 10th Doctor instead. Confusing everyone. What’s going on? What we know is that Season 14 will kick off with a trio of Doctor Who 60th anniversary special episodes before Ncuti Gatwa takes the role. Why the 10th Doctor is back we’ll have to find out when those air.
The trailer starts with Tennant’s Doctor stating “I don’t know who I am anymore.” Then a montage of footage reveals Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Neil Patrick Harris as an unknown villain, and a very confused 15th Doctor shouting, “Someone tell me what the hell is going on here?”

Russell T. Davies hyped up the special in a statement…
“If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way! The path to Ncuti [Gatwa]’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!”
Fans have time before they’ll be able to watch the three special episodes – they’re scheduled for November of 2023.
