From Portable to Desktop – Brilliant New Paint Station from Frontier Wargaming
Looking to add style and function to your tabletop hobby desk? Frontier Wargaming has a brand new paint station perfect for your desk.
Of all the paint stations that I have tested, this is the first where you can actually change out what kind of paints the unit will hold on the fly. If you want the unit to hold dropper bottles, you can put trays in the racks. Want to put Citadel paints in there? You can easily change the holders out to accommodate that. That is a feature I had not seen before!
Completely Modular and Really Cool!
You can buy this station as a bundle or individually by component. The storage units and paint stands are highly stackable and even have grooves on them to help them line up one on top of the other. The wall racks can be fastened to a wall or stood on your desk without fear of it toppling over. I found that the paint stands and storage units in particular carry a bit of weight to them. I wouldn’t be worried about knocking them over even more so than the paint wall racks.
The Paint Stands and Storage Shelves stack together extremely well. The Pant Rack on the right is meant for the wall but can be stood up straight on a desk or other flat surface.
If you want, there are two options for toppers on the storage units. One is specially designed for laptops. That is the one I have here. The other is meant for monitor stands but can easily be used to stack wall racks or your pre-existing paint case 2.0 right on top of your storage units.
The three types of paint holders that you see in the picture above can be changed on the fly. Want to fit in Citadel paints, there is a holder for that. Vallejo or Paint tubes, there are holders for that. want to change what the stand can hold after you buy it, you can do that and it is so easy! I have never reviewed a paint stand product where you could do that before. It is a definite selling feature. You can see that in action in the video I shared earlier.
How I Setup the Frontier Wargaming Paint Stand
Here is the setup that I came up with using the Tabletop Paint Station products from Frontier Wargaming.
I like this, but it is a little wider than the Frontier’s portable paint station that I reviewed last week. Because I film YouTube videos at my desk, I decided to put the portable station back at my main desk and use the new paint station down in my larger studio area. It looks pretty nice down there. I still have to figure out where to place the wall racks though.

Wrapping it up…
I really enjoy checking out and reviewing different products for our hobby. This paint station is really nice. It has a classy feel and is the first one with modular (and interchangeable) shelves that I have ever reviewed. That is certainly a nice selling feature as paint collections can change over time.
