Henry Cavill Looking Forward to Playing an “Enormously Joyful Superman”
Henry Cavill sat down with Josh Horowitz to talk about Superman’s future – and it sounds like it’s going to be bright.
After the Black Adam mid-credit scene debuted over the weekend, the actor posted a personal announcement on Instagram. It includes a new photo of Cavill in his Man Of Steel suit and a classic Superman spit curl. The caption reads “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience; it will be rewarded.”
He had to sneak out of filming The Witcher to shoot his cameo (initially done headless) and this handsome still.

There were complaints that he wasn’t in the black suit from Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but there’s a reason for that. Cavill shared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast:
“I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit. It was incredibly important to me to be standing there and enjoying that moment. That is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again.”
While the Snyderverse is dead and the DCEU is taking a new direction with James Gunn, Cavill took a moment during the podcast to thank the director for giving him a chance and changing the course of his career with Man of Steel.
“He’s a lovely man, and I am enormously appreciative for everything he’s done for me… Those are formative memories of mine, career-wise. It is when everything changed. I remember them fondly… Zack, if you are watching… thank you, my friend.”
According to THR, the newly formed DC Studios is asking for pitches for a sequel to Man of Steel. Cavill wasn’t able to comment on what’s next, but he promised to share “all the exciting things to come.” Based on the return of the classic blue/red/yellow suit and the hiring of Gunn, Superman’s next outing will be less somber.
Cavill himself is ready to play a different sort of Superman, saying…
“There is such a bright future ahead for the character, and I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”
I am looking forward to it, as well. DC’s main hero has been in the dark too long – philosophically and visually. I want a Superman with hope and color and a good bad guy to take down.
