Natasha Lyonne is a Human Lie Detector in Rian Johnson’s ‘Poker Face’
Everything about Rian Johnson’s new mystery series screams must-see. From its premise to its star-studded cast.
Mystery fans have more to look forward to after Knives Out arrives – Rian Johnson has created an anthology series with Natasha Lyonne at its center. Her character can tell when people are lying, which takes her on travels across the country to solve cases. Johnson sums up the series:
Never underestimate the power of a good dinner conversation between friends. What started as a discussion over steak frites about detective shows and what made them such a reliable pleasure—the exploration of little worlds within each new setting, the guest stars playing killers and victims, and most importantly, a scrappy protagonist you were always ready to kick back with and see win—ultimately resulted in the creation of Charlie, the driving force behind Poker Face.
The first trailer has me hooked already.
Rian Johnson’s Poker Face Cast & Details
The series is created by Rian Jonson (Knives Out, Brick) and his long-time collaborator Bob Ducsay.
Poker Face is a 10-episode “mystery-of-the-week” series following Charlie, who has an extraordinary ability to determine when someone is lying. She hits the road with her Plymouth Barracuda and, with every stop, encounters a new cast of characters and strange crimes she can’t help but solve.
That cast is giant and includes some fantastic folks beyond Lyonne. Guest stars include Adrien Brody, Benjamin Bratt, Brandon Michael Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Clea DuVall, Jameela Jamil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Nick Nolte, Rhea Perlman, and Ron Perlman – among others.
Poker Face premieres on Peacock on January 26, 2023.
