Netflix’s ‘1899’ is a New Twisted Mystery From the Creators of ‘Dark’
A tale of a mysterious ghost ship floating adrift with passengers or crew, but this ship has a lot of secrets. Check out Netflix’s 1899.
The journey the passengers of the Kerberos are getting is one they did not expect when they bought their tickets. Their trip is disrupted by the discovery of a missing ship – the Prometheus. The ship is adrift on the open sea when the crew of the Kerberos and, as the crew of the Kerberos discover, eerily empty. Where are the passengers? What’s wrong with this ship?
The first trailer reveals a ghost ship, odd artifacts, an international cast of characters, and stormy seas.
This is Netflix’s first show shot entirely in a virtual studio – at Dark Bay LED studio near Berlin. The studio has its own Volume made up of LED screens controlled by a video game engine that creates virtual sets. It’s the same tech used to create the Disney+ Star Wars series and the upcoming Ant-Man movie. I’ve been waiting to see when LED Volumes would go beyond LucasArts. The studio doesn’t own the set-up, they were just the first to use it. And it looks amazing in this trailer.
