‘Wakanda Forever’ Reviews Say Its an Emotional & Brutal Epic
We’re two weeks away from the biggest Marvel release of the year – and the close of Phase 4. See what the critics are saying and check out a new look at the action.
I cannot wait to see this unfold on a big screen. All the trailers and posters they’ve put out make the movie look amazing. It looks gorgeous, and you can tell that we’re in for some fantastic performances. Angela Bassett’s Queen Ramonda is powerful, and her grief is palpable. Their world-building is evident in what we’ve seen – it’s rich. Don’t get me started on Mobolaji Dawodu’s costumes. The real-world emotion from the loss of Chadwick Boseman is evident in the previews.
The latest trailer gives us a clear look at Riri Williams in her first armored suit and Namor in action.
Wakanda Forever Reviews
There are a lot of commentaries out there about how comic book movies are all formulaic movies for kids (James Cameron can shove it), and they don’t have merit as “meaningful” cinema. While that does have some truth to it, I don’t think it applies here. This is something more than your average superhero tale. The first reactions bear that out.
The reviews from critics that were lucky enough to go to the red-carpet premiere have been overwhelmingly positive. It’s being called Marvel’s best yet.
#WakandaForever is outstanding. It handles loss, grief and revenge with a maturity and seriousness rarely seen in the MCU. Black Panther continues to be their crown jewel. Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett and Tenoch Huerta all bring some of the best acting I’ve seen all year. pic.twitter.com/ECqGxfEyFi

#WakandaForever was a beautiful tribute to Chadwick and the weight of losing him. The film beautifully touches on grief & what that can do to a person. Also, the action is so good & very brutal. I need time to process this. #blackpanther

Ryan Coogler’s #BlackPantherWakandaForever, above all else, is cathartic. An emotional movie about loss, legacy and healing. The story is intimate, but vast with global power struggles and palace intrigue. Tenoch Huerta’s Namor is a FORCE, better than I hoped. So much to discuss. pic.twitter.com/cDFVcPYHRR

It’s hard to shake the emotional weight #BlackPanther #WakandaForever carries throughout the entire film. More serious in tone, a wonderful conclusion to Phase Four. It celebrates women as the fiercest protectors of all. Angela Bassett. Tenoch Huerta. Michaela Coel. RIHANNA! pic.twitter.com/9V2gcmKJpA
