Warhammer 40K: 5 Predictions For Warhammer Day Preview
Only 5? Yeah — We’ve got a few things we hope will come true on Warhammer Day this weekend.
Warhammer Day is coming this weekend, October 8th, 2022. If you want to watch it live, mark your calendars and hop on Twitch.
We’ll be watching for sure and we’ve got a few predictions for the event. And seeing as how this is going to be focused on Warhammer 40,000 we’ve got a pretty narrow scope to work with.
“Warhammer 40,000 turns 35 next month, and we’re packing this year’s Warhammer Day – the annual celebration of the world’s best miniatures games – with goodies from the last three-and-a-half decades. Festivities kick off on Saturday the 8th of October with a special live Warhammer preview dedicated to all things Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team.”
Prediction #1 – New Kill Team Kill Team
We already had the announcement for Kill Team’s Road Map. I would not be surprised if we see more stuff for Kill Team and from the next chapter with Shadowvaults. We could even see a new Kill Team pop up — or at least new rules for an existing one.
Prediction #2 – New Kill Team Terrain
Along with Kill Team Shadowvaults (which probably has a new Kill Team) I’d also expect some more of that awesome Gallowdark Terrain. It’s fantastic! I’m really hoping GW expands this set of terrain out and makes the Gallowdark even more fleshed out. Personally, I’d like to see some more platform style stuff. Kind of like how Zone Mortalis went from just walls to more vertical with the Necromunda stairs kit.
Prediction #3 – World Eaters!!!
C’mon — you didn’t think we’d only be talking about Kill Team stuff, did you? I think we’re going to get another Khorne Teaser as well. We know Berzerkers are coming. And we know Angron is, too.
But if that army really is getting the full Codex Treatment a la Death Guard and Thousand Sons, then you KNOW that GW has made more than a few new kits for them. I’m expecting to see some more World Eaters goodies this weekend.
Prediction #4 – Astra Militarum Reveals
They’ve been spotted. They’ve been teased. And they are on deck for a new codex. It’s only natural that we see what’s going on with the Astra Militarum this weekend, too.
Prediction #5 – A New War Zone Book
So this winter we’re slated for essentially the last two codexes for this edition. Games Workshop typically does major releases (like a new edition) in the summer. That’s 6 months from December. So…what’s going to fill that time? My guess is supplements like a new War Zone book. Based on past experiences, let’s go with a two-parter kinda like the Octarius books.
And, because it’s a 35th anniversary, I bet it’s going to be a call back to a previous big battle sector. Then again there’s so many plot threads that GW could tug on it could be some place we’ve never heard of as well. In any case they are going to need some big 40k news to carry the hype train until well past December/winter.
What do you think will be revealed at the big show?
