Warhammer 40K Hot Mess – Emperor’s Anemic Champion
Remember when this model was previewed and everyone was excited about the Emperor’s Champion. While the model looks cool he sure didn’t feel cool on the battlefield.
This model was hyped up when the Black Templar release came to town. An upgraded, Primaris’d, and badassed champion of the Emperor ready to slay the enemy and wreck face. The guy who got all the ribbons at the race. The one who ate all the hot wings and didn’t destroy the Emperor’s throne? I have fond memories of my buddy’s Champ coming out of a Crusader Land Raider and hitting an enemy’s line in a team game during an Adepticon many moons ago. He rushed out with this lightning-clawed Tech Marine buddy and just wrecked face as he committed into the opponent’s army. Well even though this guy got upgraded he sure didn’t get super good so let’s talk about fixing that.
Emperor’s Dance Champion?
I like the idea of stances but at this point – let him have a ton of them all at once to showcase how much of a martial badass he is. He should be -1 to hit, -1 to wound, -1 damage attacks against him, reroll his hits, and reroll his wounds. This guy needs to do it all in combat so give him every single thing and let him buzz saw his way to victory. Heck let him get more attacks after his first swing as he gains another attack for each hit he does as he rains down blows of the emperor’s fury onto his enemy. He needs to be a murder machine.
Let Him Have Attack Options
Why not let him have different swing types so he can hit different units as needed? He can go two-handed where all the wounds he does becomes mortal wounds but he doesn’t gain any attacks and rerolls etc. Let him get a ton of attacks but make his damage 1 so he can twirl through an enemy troop unit. Heck let one be a vehicle killer where he halves his attacks but his damage becomes 3+D3. Don’t let him get any minus’s to hit with these two as his options are just boring he currently has.
That Sword Should be Amazing!
Hey, do you have an invulnerable save? Well, you don’t versus the black sword of murderous awesome. Have it where it can’t have its stats changed like Malefic options. Let it do more damage to Chaos-based stuff or Xenos options. Just make it super cool because it is supposed to be this unique weapon.
Look Make the Emperor’s Champion Be Inspirational
This guy is supposed to come in and make everyone happy he is kicking butt for the Emperor. Let him give some kind of simple Aura of reroll 1’s to hit in combat or some kind of leadership aura. He should inspire you to kick butt even though he is a silent warrior carrying a big stick to punch foes with.
Give Him Some Cool Only Champion Warlord Traits!
Don’t be a coward give him some specific warlord traits and even relics. Let him be something cool and tooled up as he is still a foot walking character designed to just combat so let him become a tool of murderous destruction!
